Tis the season of the Holiday parties… so what are you wearing?? Don’t know yet? Let me start with saying this: DO NOT make trends a priority when choosing your look of the night. Focus on how you want to look and feel. Picture yourself walking into your special gathering; or if you are hosting, picture yourself opening the front door for you guests. How do you see yourself dressed? Take that vision and bring it to life. 😉
If you don’t have a vision, no problem. Dig deep down inside of you. What is your favorite movie, favorite era, favorite actor/actress, or favorite dance style? Take one of your favorite things and use as your fashion inspiration. For my work holiday party, I used one of my favorite movies as inspiration, check it out. I wanted, chic, sexy/conservative with a strong edge.
It took me about a day to decide on this look because I wanted something different but somehow I ended up gravitating towards black. Truth be told, to me black will always be the “new black.” For the holidays, any embellishment or chunky accessory against the color black is divine. Remember, the holidays are the perfect time to up the glam. If you like trends, black lace is the thing this season. You can find a great selection of lace tops, dresses, and even pant suits pretty much everywhere you look. Speaking of pant suits, the perfect christmas look: an all white wide leg pant suit!! If the suit is not your thing try a white pencil skirt, white mini skirt, or white dress. Use these two non-colors; blacks and whites!! It’s about picking simple wardrobe pieces with big attention grabbing accessories.
Want some color? Go for bold royal blues, reds, dark greens, and dark cold jewel tones. It’s about embracing the winter so feel the colors.
When it come to make up: make it grand!! Go for festive and yes, more glam! This is the season to wear bold make up without having to set foot in a club or bar. 😉 “It’s that time of the year when you get to be just Flat out Fabulous! No matter the occasion; whether it’s for a holiday party with friends, family, coworkers, this is the time to whip out that inner diva! So many options you can be playful with! Whether you’re on the naughty list with that sultry smokey eye, or the nice list with the soft shimmer eye, my advice is to just play! Have fun ladies! Happy holidays, xoxo.” – Ashley Cruz, Mac Consultant .
Although fashion is important, the Holidays should always be about the love. Yes, labels are nice but never forget to first and foremost dress yourself in love. Love your body and dress it in a way that people will be able to see that self love. This year, lets stop focusing on our negatives, because in the end there are more positives than negatives in us. When we focus on that one negative we lose sight of at least 3 positives that are staring right back at us when we are looking in the mirror. Let’s embrace ourselves and force ourselves to always find the positives. I call it “being your own BFF.” Talk to your self the way you would talk to your BFF, build yourself up girl!! In my case, I love my eyes and lips so when it comes to make up I use those features to the max. As for my body, I love my arms and thick legs so I find looks that will embrace those favorites. We are women, we are unique, we are beautiful!! Lets never forget that.
Till next time,
